The delicious wines of Puglia.

In their wines the noble spirit of Castel del Monte.

The noble and intriguing Castel del Monte is the ideal symbol to identify one of the most exceptional wine-growing regions of Apulia, which received its DOC designation in 1971 and DOCG in 2001.
The area covers the area north of Bari that descends from “Alta Murgia” towards the Adriatic Sea and splits into two areas that show an expressive difference in landscapes and in soil types. Above 300 meters from sea level, the hard limestone rock plateau of the Murgia dominates, where you can find the traditional vineyards. These areas are characterized by a Mediterranean climate, characterized by cool, rainy winters and hot and dry summers, but tempered by the sea breeze, native grape varieties such as the white Pampanuto, Bombino Bianco, Fiano and Moscato Reale, and the red wine are grown .
Bombino Nero, Nero di Troia, Montepulciano and Aglianico are flanked – mainly through research by Rivera agronomists – by the international white varieties chardonnay and sauvignon blanc, now included in the DOC Castel del Monte regulation.

The Murgia terroir.

Murgia is a karst plateau of ancient origin that forms the backbone of central Apulia. An irregular and banner landscape without borders and interruptions, but with the mysterious Castel del Monte acting as a sentry and representing a definitive benchmark.
The area covers the territory north of Bari that slopes down from “Alta Murgia” to the Adriatic Sea, divided into two areas that show an expressive difference in landscapes and in soil types. Above 300 meters from sea level, the hard-limestone rock plateau of the Murgia dominates, where you can find the traditional vineyards trained to spalliera bassa, or low vertically trained canopies grown between meadows and fields. On the other hand, deep and loose tuff limestone soils between 180 and 300 meters offer an endless array of olive groves and vineyards. In these areas characterized by a Mediterranean climate, characterized by cool, rainy winters and hot and dry summers, yet tempered by the sea breeze, native grape varieties are grown, such as the white Pampanuto, Bombino Bianco, Fiano and Moscato Reale, and the red Bombino. Nero, Nero di Troia, Montepulciano and Aglianico, are flanked – specifically for research by Rivera agronomists – by the international white varieties Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, which are now included in the DOC Castel del Monte regulatory.
