A century of wine and traditions accompanied by a love for the Montalcino country.

The Fuligni family lived in the Tuscan Maremma at the beginning of the 20th century. To flee malaria, the family moved to Montalcino and in 1923 bought from Gontrano Biondi Santi the Cottimelli estate, named after the 16th-century monastery that stood there. This is the classic zone where Brunello has always been made. Fuligni also bought an 18th-century palazzo in the center of Montalcino with beautiful vaulted cellars where wines are still aged today. After the death of her father, Maria Flora Fuligni took over the family domain and changed course.

Where the wine under her father only served family and friends, she started bottling and selling Brunello from 1975. In total there are 12 hectares of vineyards, of which 10 hectares supply the Brunello di Montalcino and 2 hectares the Rosso di Montalcino. The vineyards of ten hectares are mainly located in the area “I Cottimelli” at an altitude ranging from 380 to 450 meters above sea level. The land, which is mainly exposed to the east, belongs entirely to the geological formation of S. Fiora (galestro), of Eocene origin and is formed by the prevailing stony skeleton.

The Brunello first ripens for four months in large barriques (500-750 liters) to fix the color and then for another 2.5 years in large casks of Slovenian oak. The elegant and complex Riserva is exclusively made in long years and is matured for an extra year.
